TDBBS Salmonella Lawyer Update: USA Thick Pig Ear Brand is Just the Latest to be Recalled Due to Potential Salmonella Contamination.

TDBBS announced on September 20, 2019, the voluntary recall of two of their pig ear dog treat products USA Thick Pig Ear 8 Pack and USA Thick Pig Ear 20 Pack due to possible salmonella contamination.

The Food and Drug Administration

(FDA) stated that the recall was the result of a routine sampling conducted by

the Michigan Department of Agriculture & Rural Development

. TDBBS stated, in their recall announcement, “This recall has been initiated due to possible Salmonella contamination, which poses a health risk. It is important to know that no illnesses have been reported, and the amount of affected product is minimal.” TDBBS ceased production and distribution of the contaminated products, the company is cooperating with the FDA to further investigate the situation.

The contaminated pig ear products were sold through amazon.com and were shipped to customers between April 22, 2019, and August 13, 2019. The products affected by the recall are:

 

The salmonella outbreak

caused by pig ear dog treats has already affected over 140 people in 35 states, with the number still growing. Salmonella can affect both pets and owners and since the contaminated products look and smell the same as any normal product people are more likely to handle them and fall ill. The FDA is advising anyone who has handled pig ear dog treats and is feeling symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever to visit a health care provider as soon as possible.
