Frozen broccoli recall affects three grocery stores
Stop & Shop, Giant, and Martin’s have all recalled private brand frozen broccoli because the product is potentially contaminated with listeria. The frozen vegetable product is being recalled by these three grocery stores as a precautionary measure after a product sampled by the state of Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes, a common organism found in nature.
The recall affects the 16-ounce Private Brand Frozen Broccoli Cuts sold by Stop & Shop, Giant, and Martin’s. The packages are marked with a sell by date of Mar 15, 2020 and a UPC code 68826700926. Each store has removed the product from their shelves. Consumers who have purchased the frozen broccoli from either of these stores should not eat it. Food safety guidelines should be followed in properly disposing of the product. It can also be returned to the store.
Consumption of food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes can cause listeriosis, an uncommon but potentially fatal disease. Healthy people rarely contract listeriosis.  However, listeriosis can cause high fever, severe headache, neck stiffness and nausea. Listeriosis can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths, as well as serious and sometimes fatal infections in those with weakened immune systems, such as infants, the elderly and persons with HIV infection or undergoing chemotherapy.
If you have purchased or consumed any of the potentially contaminated frozen broccoli products from Stop & Shop, Giant, or Martin’s grocery stores, please contact the food poisoning lawyers at 1-888-335-4901 to learn more about your legal options.
