Limena Listeria Lawyer Update: Salvadorean String Cheese Recalled Due to Listeria Risks.

A recall was issued by the Florida Company Limena, LLC of Palm Springs on January 2, 2020.ย  The recall involvedย  Salvadorian String Cheese products and was issued due to the risk of them being contaminated with

Listeria monocytogenes

. According to the

Food and Drug Administration

(FDA), the potential risk for contamination was discovered by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services during routine testing of a sample of the 1 lb. blocks of Salvadorean String Cheese. Once notified of the potential contamination the company quickly issued a recall out of avoidance of caution.

The โ€œSalvadorean String Cheese (Quesillo Cheese)โ€ was distributed to retail stores and through mail orders. As of the date of the recall, no illnesses have been linked to the cheese product but the consumers who purchased the products should stay vigilant. The potentially contaminated products were sold in clear plastic vacuum-packed bags marked with the lot #1041020 on the top and a blue and white label.

Consumers are being advised by both the FDA and Limena to return the recalled products to the place of purchase for a full refund or properly dispose of them. The FDA has announced that the production of the cheese products has been stopped while they and the company investigate the source of the contamination. As there is no expiration date printed on the products consumers should be careful when eating โ€œSalvadorean String Cheese (Quesillo Cheese)โ€, especially if they are unsure of the date in which it was purchased.

Listeria has become a hot topic of discussion since the start of the New Year; multiple recalls have been issued due to potential Listeria contamination such as the

Almark hard-boiled eggs recall

that took place at the end of December and the

sandwich recall

that took place just last week. Listeria monocytogenes bacteria can cause a serious infection called

listeriosis

; the infection can in severe cases spread to the nervous system and cause symptoms such as headaches, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, and convulsion. People who have eaten the contaminated product should contact a medical health care provider and inform them of their exposure to contaminated products. According to a national

Listeria Lawyer

,

Ron Simon

, those at greater risk of contracting listeriosis are pregnant women, newborns, and adults with weakened immune systems.
