Blentopia Smoothie Listeria Lawyer Update: Smoothie Kits Recalled Due to Listeria Concerns.

A voluntary recall was issued by Blendtopia Products, LLC on February 10, 2020. The recall was issued after the company discovered a potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination during a quality control test. According to the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA), the potential contamination is believed to be caused by one of the ingredients which were supplied to Blendtopia Products. The recall was issued directly after the contamination was discovered to ensure consumer’s safety.

The smoothie blends affected by the recall were part of the Blendtopia brand “Glow”, “Detox”, “Energy”, “Immunity” and “Strength” Superfood Smoothie Kits. The products have a “best by dates” of July 2021, Oct 2021, and Nov 2021. The contaminated products were distributed to retailers nationwide and sold through the company’s website. As of the date of the recall, no illnesses have been linked to smoothie products.

The FDA and Blendtopia Products have issued a notice to their consumers to stay vigilant of the recalled for the recalled items. Those who are sure that they purchased any of the recalled smoothie kits are advised to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund or to dispose of them as quickly as possible. The founder of Blendtopia, Tiffany Taylor, said after the recall “Food safety is our highest priority, and we’re committed to assuring consumers can have full confidence in our products.”

Consumers who have experienced symptoms such as fever, muscle aches, and gastrointestinal problems after drinking the smoothies should contact a medical health care provider a soon as possible and inform them about the potential Listeria exposure. People of advanced age, pregnant women, newborns, and adults with weakened immune systems should be careful as they are the ones who are at the highest risk of contracting listeriosis, an infection caused by Listeria monocytogenes bacterium. According to a National Listeria Lawyer, Ron Simon, listeriosis infection can spread to the nervous system and cause symptoms such as headaches, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, and convulsions, in more severe cases it can even cause death.
