Salmonella Lawyer Update: Salmonella Outbreak Linked to Meals Served at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church
Public Health Officials in Amarillo, Texas, announced an investigation on a salmonella outbreak believed to be linked to enchilada meals served at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on March 27, 2022. The outbreak was noticed by the City of Amarillo Environmental Health Department and the City of Amarillo Public Health Department after receiving calls of individuals becoming ill after eating the enchilada meals. The investigation on this salmonella outbreak is fairly new and health department officials are requesting anyone who became ill after eating the contaminated food to contact them as soon as possible.
The City of Amarillo Public Health Department released an alert in which they request for all health care providers treating people who became ill after eating at the event to contact APHD at (806) 378-6300 option 6 or fax the patient’s contact information to (806) 378-6307. Attn: CD Team. Additionally, health officials are also advising anyone with food purchased from the church on the day of the event to throw it away as soon as they’re able to and sanitize the area in which it was kept. Sadly, due to how little information is known at this time the number of affected individuals is still a mystery. The St. Joseph’s Parish and the Diocese of Amarillo released a statement in which he explained that they are aware of the incident and are assisting with the health department investigation.
People who participated in the church event by buying tickets for the enchilada meals and are experiencing symptoms of salmonella are advised to seek medical treatment. Symptoms of salmonella normally include diarrhea, abdominal cramps, nausea, vomiting, and fever. The symptoms can normally take effect within 6 hours to 6 days after ingestion of the contaminated food.
Health department officials are advising all affected individuals to refrain from returning to work, school, or daycare until they are symptom-free for 24 hours. Ron Simon, a National Salmonella Lawyer whose main office is located in Texas, stated:
“If you have been affected by salmonella, a lawyer can help you obtain the financial compensation you deserve. In most cases, you will be able to recover against the restaurant or store where you contracted the bacteria or the manufacturer of the food product that made you ill… If you are unable to work while you are recovering from salmonella, you can seek damages for lost wages. This includes both the wages you have missed and the future wages you will likely miss due to your illness.
